Good Evening RGL dudes - short and sweet this week :)

Rolls & Rems, Lewisham, London SE13

This week's featured article is Rolls and Rems in Lewisham. Expect a variety of bargain-tastic fabrics as well as buttons, zips, thread, etc. and knowledgeable, helpful staff.

My short run of having a fully vegan eatery a short walk from my digs concluded as Kitchen Counter in Herne Hill shut down, whilst Greenwich Pensioner in Poplar has reopened, though we haven't visited yet.

Ram's, Kenton, London HA3

Evening all!

This week's featured article is for Ram's in Kenton, a vegetarian Indian restaurant and sweet shop with a decent all-you-can-eat buffet. Unlimited bread! There are also two new pages on RGL: Cactus Grill in Wallington serves Mexican/American food with a lunchtime meal deal, and Hap Lee in Norbury does the usual Anglo-Chinese cuisine (maybe skip the aubergine).

There's an update for the Orange Room in Mile End, just around the corner from a house where approximately half the population of Livejournal has lived at one point or another, including this author. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a local Lebanese mezze place at the time - but now there is!

Several pub closures to report: the Hatchet near Mansion House, the Chequers in Hendon, and the Greenwich Pensioner in... wait for it... Poplar! (Come on, why would you think a Greenwich Pensioner might be in Greenwich?) The Victoria Stakes in Muswell Hill is also temporarily shut following a fire, but the Good Samaritan in Whitechapel has reopened: very handy for a pre- or post-Tayyabs pint.

Squires, Dagenham, London RM9

Hello, and another late post from me, apologies.

For the featured article this week we are venturing to remotest Dagenham for Nigerian restaurant Squires, RM9 5AQ. It has an interesting menu with such things as pounded yam and moi moi, and it probably has a nice chicken and rice if they've remembered to stock up.

Just two new articles. The Greenwich Pensioner is a pub in Poplar, though apparently none too popular (groan). Go there to stare at a shark's head if you dare.

Also, in the same area is Sichuan Kitchen, which could have used more pepper in their food.

Woo Jung

This week's featured article is Woo Jung, WC2H 8LH, a Korean restaurant near Centre Point in that tricky little area between WC1 and WC2 that I usually call St Giles, some developers call Mid Town, but for convenience we'll just call Covent Garden. There's a little stretch of Korean places along here, so you can come here if you can't get into the others.

New articles are: Cafe Kozzy, a greasy spoon in Holborn; and Tufnell Park Tavern. Sure, it's a tavern and it's in Tufnell Park, but it's more than averagely child-friendly. On the downside, it's a bit big and airy in there, and they don't know how to pull a pint, but at least they have real ale.

Reported closures are Favela Chic, a Brazilian bar in Shoreditch which turned into another Brazilian bar a year or two back; and The Oporto, a pub by Westferry station in Poplar which is now called The Westferry Arms and may be much the same, though we haven't been since the change of name.
