Shortwave, Bermondsey, SE1

This week's featured article is Shortwave Cinema in the Bermondsey Square development. It opened a few years ago and is a small single-room cinema with a similarly-sized cafe/bar area out the front. All very pleasant, and it shows some decent films.

Our one addition is Mama Lan, a Beijing street food cafe in "Brixton Village" market. The chicken wings come with bob's special recommendation.

Two reported closures are Puji Puji on Balls Pond Road, and Eurasia grocery in Croydon.

Hello! And sorry for the slight delay posting this update; all my fault.

Addis, King's Cross, London N1

This week's featured article is Addis, N1 9DT. It's an Ethiopian restaurant at the bottom of Caledonian Road, with plenty of options for veggies and vegans. Looks like everything was excellent, though you might want to think carefully about ordering falafel.

There are three new entries: a Turkish bakery and cafe called Tuana near Archway; Mi Rancho, a Colombian eatery in Nag's Head Market, Holloway, offering tasty street food in an unpretentious setting; and Black Cat Cafe, a vegan cooperative cafe in Lower Clapton.

Reported permanent closures are La Fermata on Tower Bridge Road, and Verru in Marylebone.

Finally, happier news, the old Duke of Edinburgh pub in Wanstead has been rebranded as The Duke and reopened. Looks promising.

Chandos, Covent Garden, WC2

This week's featured article is The Chandos, a Sam Smith's pub at the corner of Trafalgar Square that anyone who has ever had a drink in central London will probably be familiar with. You may already have an opinion of Sam Smith's pubs, but at least their beer tends to be dependable.

The new entry is The Smithfield Tavern, which you may have guessed is a tavern just off Smithfield Market, central London's major meat market. Given this fact, you'll be surprised to hear it's totally vegetarian, and the food sounds pretty good to me.

Reported closures are Delfina on Bermondsey Street (probably permanent), and Mizgin Restaurant on Green Lanes, Harringay (definitely permanent; it's been replaced another Turkish restaurant). We also have a reported temporary closure for Hoxton's Wenlock Arms, but this is promised to be just for a refurbishment.

Finally Just Deli in SE1 has been renamed as London's Kitchen Cafe.

Recent additions to RGL include New Cavendish, a sandwich shop and greasy spoon in Fitzrovia; Marlborough Head, a pub in Mayfair; and Home, a Chinese cafe in Lewisham.

No reported closures! Hurrah! One reported closure: Presto Cafe on Tower Bridge Road.
