Urban Guj, Thornton Heath, London CR7

Good afternoon all :) A short one this week, as we've no new articles, updates or reported closures.

This week's featured article is Urban Guj, an Indian cafe and teashop in Thornton Heath. I've visited and can highly recommend the divine carb-in-carb Wada Pau experience, and the masala chips were an utter delight.

Blend, Norbury, London SW16

Hiya folks!

This week's featured article is Blend, a microcafe in Norbury. It's hard for me to think about hot drinks right now, but if I'm ever around that way, I'll be sure to check out their excellent selection of loose leaf teas. They also serve a curated selection of breakfast faves and sangers, and you'll likely be able to charge your phone or other electronic device if need be.

Two new articles have been added - Obia in Croydon's restaurant quarter serves an interesting falafel burger, though it appears the curse of the structurally unsound veg burger knows no bounds. If that seems a bit outré, you can always stick with their traditional Italian classics.

Still in Croydon, Kalpa serves Sri Lankan and Keralan food. Our reviewers were satisfied by the overall quality, though slightly underwhelmed by the mutonniness off the mutton rolls.

Updates have been made to Viet Grill in Shoreditch. Perhaps try the Saigon Feed set lunch, where you can choose from a limited selection of starters and mains, one of which is called "grilled piggy aubergine" and which our reviewer found quite nice.

Welcome back to a new week of RGL!

Orange Pekoe, Barnes, London SW13

The featured article this week is Orange Peko, SW13 0PX, which I had been convinced for some reason was a breed of dog, but actually no it's a tea. I should have known that. So anyway this is a tea shop, not a dog shop. It gets quite busy, even on a Monday morning. The food is pretty good, and they're excellent at tea, which you'd expect, or at least you'd hope for that. No word on dog friendliness, but it's in leafy Barnes, so they can handle prams.

Lots of new additions! We have Searcy's, a restaurant and champagne bar in St Pancras International Station (friendly service, good food, but steep prices). We have Grao de Cafe, a Portuguese cafe and shop in sunny South Croydon (more friendly service). We have Divan in London-adjacent Borehamwood, a Turkish restaurant with abstract art and chill-out music, a good lunch deal and observant service (so I'd class that as good service). We have The Alfred Arms, a pub in Borehamwood, smart traditional, but still not in London. And finally we have Kiyoto, for all your Borehamwood Japanese food needs (good rice, but the food is a bit stodgy, but perhaps that's what you get when you leave London and are not in London, outside London).

Reported temporary closure for The Bear, one of Camberwell's finest pubs and due to reopen in 6-8 months' time.

Finally, three reported permanent closures. There's The Still and Star in Aldgate (boo hiss developers), The Peacock not far away on Minories (may yet reopen), and The Good Ship in Kilburn. I remember many gigs at that pub back in the day, what a strange stage arrangement it had.

This week's featured article is Bea's Of Bloomsbury, EC4M 9BX, a cafe and teashop in the One New Change development near St Paul's.

No new articles this week, and no reported closures either. We've been a bit busy, and we're also one team member down as [personal profile] bob is currently exploring the world outside the UK. I hope to have more to report next week!

Edit: I spoke too soon about the lack of reported closures! Masons in Ladywell has closed.

This week's featured article is Pilpel, E1 6AT, a self-proclaimed "falafel and houmous bar" in Spitalfields near Liverpool Street Station.

The menu is entirely vegetarian, and focuses on falafel and houmous with optional extras such as pitta bread, aubergine, and/or hard-boiled egg.

They've just opened another branch in the City, too, on Paternoster Square in the premises most recently occupied by Glo (next to The Whisky Shop).

Recent additions to RGL include the Red Lion, a recently-opened Antic pub in Leytonstone, and Bea's at One New Change, a cafe and tea shop in the One New Change development near St Paul's. We've also updated our writeups of the Antelope, another Antic pub in Tooting, and the Olde China Hand, a pub near Sadler's Wells in Clerkenwell.

No reported closures, unless there's something I've forgotten!

Recent additions to RGL include Teapod, a tea shop in Covent Garden; Kris Wines, an off licence in Camden Town; and Dial Arch, a gastropub in Woolwich.

One reported closure: Stone Horse Paper Cow near Liverpool Street.
