I've just added a thing to the RGL map view that lets you choose between different styles of map: Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, or MapQuest. As with previous map improvements, this applies to:

• Locale maps, e.g. map of things on or near Charing Cross Road.
• "Things near other things" maps, e.g. kebabs within 300m of Good Beer Guide pubs.
• "Pages needing a photo" maps, e.g. things in Docklands yet to be photographed.

Have a play, let me know if anything looks wrong or confusing.

I've just upgraded the maps on RGL to the latest version of the Google Maps API. This means, among other things, that the Google Maps embedded in RGL now:

• Look more like the maps displayed on the Google Maps website.
• Should be easier to use on mobile devices.

The changes are visible on:

• Locale maps, e.g. map of things in Chinatown.
• "Things near other things" maps, e.g. Good Beer Guide pubs within 650m of Circle Line stations.
• "Pages needing a photo" maps, e.g. things in W1 yet to be photographed.

I've also made the error messages on the "things near other things" search more informative and useful.
