Crown and Sceptre, South Croydon, CR2

Afternoon RGL crew! We're back from our mini-break and London's looking pretty nice out there in the sunshine, isn't it?

This week's featured article is the Crown & Sceptre, CR2 6RB, a Fuller's pub in Croydon. It's a bit smaller than most of the Fuller's pubs I frequent, but the last time I went there my pint of Chiswick went down a treat. Their macaroni cheese has mustard in it - depending on your point of view this might be an AMAZING thing or a TERRIBLE thing, but either way, now you know about it.

I am proud to include my local haunt Best Turkish Kebab in Stoke Newington as one of our new articles. The shish is almost as good as the picture of Ainsley Harriot they have on the wall! Also new is Fishworks in Marylebone, a fancy-ish restaurant on the High Street that focuses on sustainably-sourced fish and seafood.

Clearing up confusion in Maida Vale is the Union Tavern, another Fuller's pub which has changed its moniker from the 'Grand Union' -- a sensible move considering it is neither a type of 4-way railway junction, a burger chain nor a sizeable means of organising a workforce. Now if only we could get the nearby Grand Union Canal's name changed too, that would be perfect.

Finally, we have a reopened and refurbished pub (hurrah!) in the shape of the Windsor Castle on the Lower Clapton Road in Hackney. According to our RGL pub expert it now 'looks quite nice' and 'was quite busy'. Good to know!

Spinach rolls, timtimo (spicy lentil) rolls, and felafel at Mosob, Maida Vale, London W9

The new featured article this week is Mosob, W9 3RB, an Eritrean restaurant in Maida Vale.

We have one reopening, being The Wenlock Arms, a long-time CAMRA favourite pub in Hoxton. It's under new management, who promise a clean-up but no substantial changes. We have yet to re-visit.

New additions are The Victoria and Albert, a pub in Marylebone Station, and three establishments in New Southgate (near Arnos Grove station): Molly's Bar, a shopfront Irish pub, Gina's Bakery, and Xiang Yuan, a Chinese restaurant with a Hunan menu.

No closures have been reported.

North Nineteen, Upper Holloway, N19

This week's featured article is a Good Beer Guide pub in N19 going by the name of North Nineteen, N19 4HZ.

We have three new articles: Mekong, a Vietnamese restaurant in Pimlico; Mosob, an Eritrean restaurant in Maida Vale; and Grand Union, a Fuller's pub near Westbourne Park station overlooking the Grand Union canal (and unrelated to the chain burger bars).

Two reported closures are: Black Cherry Bar in East Dulwich (soon to become the newest outpost of the Draft House chain); and The Prince of Wales in Summerstown (near Wimbledon), one of several Young's pub the company has put up for sale recently.

This week's featured article is Imperial, WC2H 7BL, a Taylor Walker (Punch Taverns) pub on a small side street just off Leicester Square.

Despite its very central location, we've never had trouble finding a seat here — perhaps it's simply too tucked away for tourists to notice it. It has four handpumps, which have featured some relatively interesting guest ales in the past, though there are signs that the selection may have recently moved more towards the mainstream.

Accessibility is not great, unfortunately; a step to get in, and the loos are accessed via quite narrow staircases.

Recent additions to RGL include Ambala, an Indian sweet shop on Brick Lane; Shu Castle, a Sichuan restaurant on the Old Kent Road; and Yu Xiao, a small Chinese supermarket in Dalston.

Several reported closures: Papaya in Rayners Lane, the Old Rose in Wapping, the County in Newbury Park, the Mason's Arms in Upminster, and the Skiddaw in Maida Vale.
