Hello and welcome back from a long weekend.

Shree Krishna Vada Pav, Harrow, London HA1

This week's featured article is Shree Krishna Vada Pav, HA1 2TY, an Indian vegetarian cafe in a casual location in Harrow. It moved recently from another location nearby, and it has a decent vada pav (as you'd hope for given the name of the place). All pretty good value it seems.

We have not two, not three but FOUR new articles! There's The Pembroke, a pub in Coulsdon. Alright beer; seems child friendly. And then there's Archie's, a cafe/bar in Deptford -- a railway arch to be precise, HENCE THE NAME. Pretty good sandwiches and friendly service! Also, Halwa Poori House in Thornton Heath does Pakistani food with sparkly floor tiles and mild lukewarm curry. Finally, Canary Cafe, a greasy spoon in South Croydon. There's a solid selection of the usual staples.

Provender, Wanstead, London E11

Evening folks!

This week's featured article is for Provender, which is not a gritty archeological crime series on ITV3 but a French restaurant in Wanstead with quality napkins and tasty souffles! (Next time on Provender: Detective Ian Provender eats some delicious prawns and then discovers a mysterious amulet on Wanstead Flats - could this be linked to the murder??)

New this week are entries for Battersea Pie Station in Covent Garden, which I keep calling Battersea Stodge Station in my mind (the pies are stodgy but in a good way), and the Crown & Pepper pub in Caterham, which also has a restaurant section serving Indian and Indian/Chinese food.

Affogato in Norbury is temporarily closed while they sort out the drains and the licensing (yikes), but it's good to see the Catford Bridge Tavern reopening. It's no longer an Antic pub but hopefully the new owners will have retained its friendly atmosphere and spacious interior.

Finally, here at RGL Towers we mourn the passing of the best named combination-cafe-and-juice-bar in South Croydon, Juicy Squeeze. A carton of Five Alive just won't cut it anymore.

Hello, and after a bit of seasonal break, welcome back to a new year, 2017!

Lulu's Caribbean Cuisine, Finsbury Park, London N4

This week's featured article is Lulu's Caribbean Cuisine, N4 3EN. It's pretty small and colourfully painted, and if you're there for a weekday lunchtime you may find yourself the only one. Generous portions and flavourful too, worth checking out we think.

There are three new pages: A&N Brothers Cafe in South Croydon (decent breakfast); Steakout in Norbury (neon pink, but decent steak); and The Fox pub between Coulsdon and Caterham (more a restaurant than a pub, but you can drink there, and the food is... decent).

Our two reported permanent closures are Bottledog on Grays Inn Road, and The William Jolle pub (a Wetherspoons) in Northwood Hills.

Ashburnham Arms, Greenwich, London SE10

The featured article this week is The Ashburnham Arms, SE10 8UH, a small Shepherd Neame pub in Greenwich with good fresh beer. However, it does seem as if the locals prefer wine. None of that craft beer guff here.

There are fully four new pages this week: Cote d'Azur, a French-Mauritian fusion restaurant in southern Croydon (try the crab soup); Squires, a Nigerian restaurant in Dagenham (look out for some pounded yam); Upney Cafe, a greasy spoon in Barking (you know what to expect); and The Royal Albert in Crystal Palace. This last one is another traditional locals' pub, though there are increasing numbers of locals who probably want something more gastro, so hopefully it will hold out for a bit yet.

Finally, the David Lean Cinema in Croydon has reopened in its original location of the Clocktower.

Quinns, Camden

This week's featured article is Quinns, NW1 8NY, in Kentish Town (near the Camden borders). It's been an occasional feature in the Good Beer Guide (mainly for its selection of bottled beers), and it's still very yellow.

The two new articles are both the result of takeaway orders: Amera Rani, an Indian restaurant in South Croydon who do delivery; and China Red, a Chinese takeaway in Croydon.
